Once the topsoil was scraped off and stockpiled, B&B dug trenches four to five feet down where the foundation walls will sit.  Lo and behold, they uncovered ledge.

There doesn’t seem to be as much ledge as we expected, but at this point, any is too much.  We met with the structural engineer on site to figure out whether or not all the ledge will need to be removed.

The determination was that if what is there can be leveled out a bit, we might be able to form the foundation walls over it and pin where needed.  So B&B began poking at the ledge with their big machines.  It looks like we won’t have to blast…for now.
