This gorgeous maple tree was identified by one of B&B’s foresters during the clearing phase of the site work.
He tagged the tree to see if we might be able to integrate it into the school landscaping.  Our site engineer and our landscape architect both agreed that the tree would make a great signature tree, so they are hard at work to see if the grading and site plans might be able to be shifted ever so slightly in order to accommodate this marvelous beauty.  In the meantime, the site crew fenced off the area surrounding the tree.  Rob Akroyd from Greylock Design pointed out that the tree looks to have some weak “v’s” in it that will have to be cabled for extra support.  The root system has also been disturbed by the clearing of the other trees, so, come spring, we might need to add fertilizer in order to aid in root stabilization.  Since this tree was part of a forest and had some barriers against wind and weather, it will need to be limbed and pruned a little in order to reduce the “sail.”  Stay tuned…
